Aquinas Tops Lourdes in Regular Season Finale

Lourdes wrapped up the 2014 regular season on Monday night, falling to fourth-ranked Aquinas 24-9 at O'Laughlin Stadium in Adrian, Mich. on the campus of Siena Heights.

The Saints scored the game's first seven goals in the first 7:15 before back-to-back goals by Katie Cerveny (Erie, Mich./Mason Senior H.S.) and Faith Fisher (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) put the Gray Wolves on the board. Lourdes cut its deficit to 8-4 at the 18:07 mark before Aquinas scored the final nine goals of the first half to take a 17-4 lead into the locker room.

Cerveny scored in the first minute of the second half for the Gray Wolves, but Lourdes was never able to make a run over the final 30 minutes to cut into the lead any further.

Cerveny, Fisher, and Molly Porterfield (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) had three goals each for Lourdes to account for all of the Gray Wolves' scoring. Alexandra Burns led Aquinas (10-3, 8-2 WHAC) with eight goals.

The Saints outshot Lourdes 38-24 for the night, including a 32-14 edge on goal. Amanda Kaczmarek (Berkey, Ohio/Evergreen H.S.) made eight saves in goal for the Gray Wolves.

Lourdes (1-14, 0-10) will begin play in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament on Wednesday evening on the road. The Gray Wolves opponent has yet to be determined.
