Hood Overmatched in Commonwealth Tilt at Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Hood dropped a Commonwealth Conference match at Stevenson, 22-2.

Ashley Kitzmiller (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) scored a pair of first half goals in the loss. She also had three draw controls for the Blazers (5-5, 0-4).

Kathryn Merrick scored for the Mustangs just nine seconds after the game began, but Kitzmiller tied it up with 28:12 left in the half. The first of Marissa Meikeljohn's seven goals started a 14-1 run to end the half that put the Hood down 15-1 at the half.

Leah Warner scored the first two of the Mustangs' (8-4, 3-0) seven second half goals.

Lauren Couch (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) made 14 saves. Megan Feldtmose (Hereford, Pa./Perkiomen) had and assist.

Meikeljohn scored six of her game-high seven goals in the first half. Warner had four goals and two assists. After her quick score to open the game, Merrick dished out four assists to finish the day with five points. She also had a game-high six draw controls.

Leanne Bittner played the first half and did not make a save. Maggie Lawder stopped all three shots she faced in the second half.

The Blazers host Alvernia for Senior Day on April 12.
