Eleven Score as Shorewomen Overpower Bryn Mawr

CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Eleven players scored goals for Washington College in a 17-1 Centennial Conference lacrosse victory over visiting Bryn Mawr tonight. The Shorewomen improved to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play with the win, while the Owls fell to 4-8 and 0-6 with the loss.

The Shorewomen scored on their first three shots of the game, taking a 3-0 lead on a goal by freshman midfielder Katherine Vincent (Wilton, Conn/Wilton) off an assist from junior midfielder Emily Hubley (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) just 1:40 into the game. Washington held a 10-1 lead at halftime.

Washington played four goalies in the contest. Senior Rachelle Martinez(Silver Spring, Md./Northwood) saw the most time with 26:39 of playing time. She gave up the Owls' only goal but also made the team's two saves.

Bryn Mawr's lone goal came on a Claire Johnson free-position shot with 57 seconds left in the first half. Katie Alpert made 14 saves in the loss for Bryn Mawr.

Washington held a 38-4 advantage in shots in the game and a 27-8 margin in ground balls. The Shorewomen controlled 11 of the game's 15 draws.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Dickinson.
