Balanced Attack Helps Centenary Top Rosemont

MOUNT OLIVE, N.J. - Four players tallied at least four points as Centenary topped Rosemont 14-6 in Colonial States Athletic Conference action Wednesday night.

Senior Steve Orsini (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) recorded a five-point effort with three goals and two assists, while sophomore Anthony Biango (Highland Lakes, N.J./Vernon Twp.) added three goals and one assist. Freshman Sam Nickelson (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) handed out a pair of helpers and scored twice.

Orsini and junior Nick Perkalis (Califon, N.J./Voorhees) scored during the first period to give Centenary a 2-1 lead after 15 minutes.

Stephen Licata tied the game at 2-2, but sophomores Kenton Gottshall (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) and Alex Malecki (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) answered with goals to help Centenary retake the lead. Biango's tally with 2:23 to play made the score 5-3 at the break.

The Cyclones took control in the second half, outscoring the Ravens 9-3. Rosemont was within one at 6-5, but sophomore Luke Tremont (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) started a string of six consecutive Cyclone goals over a 15-minute period of the third and fourth quarters.

Nickelson capped the run by finding the back of the net off a feed from Orsini with 8:27 to play.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Switzer (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) made 14 stops in net and grabbed six ground balls. Brody Safranek made 11 stops for the Ravens.

Centenary (4-6, 2-1 CSAC) hosts Neumann at noon on Saturday.
