Mount Saint Vincent Downed by No. 11 Montclair State

Yonkers, N.Y. – Mount Saint Vincent fell to 2-2 at home this season on Wednesday night following a 16-4 loss to #11 Montclair State. Senior goalie Kyle Kalibat (Oceanside, N.Y.) made 18 saves for the Mount and junior Pat McEnaney (New York, N.Y.) scored a pair of goals in the loss.

Montclair State got off to a fast start on Wednesday, scoring five times in the first 8:18. The Red Hawks scored three man-up goals over that span with Alex Hahn scoring twice. Charles Lloyd (Wheatley, N.Y.) broke the scoring string for the visitors at the 5:55 mark to cut the Dolphins' deficit to four goals.

Connor Cunningham pushed Montclair State back in front by five just 23 second later before Mike McEnaney (New York, N.Y.) potted a man-up goal at the 3:39 mark of the first quarter to bring the Mount to within 6-2 after 15 minutes of play.

Mike McEnaney's first quarter goal would be the last goal for the Dolphins until Pat McEnaney scored his first of two goals with 7:33 left in the fourth period. His second goal came at the 5:47 mark of the final stanza to close out the scoring in the game for the Mount. Between goals, Montclair State outscored Mount Saint Vincent 9-0, including 4-0 in the second period.

The Red Hawks had five players with multiple goals in the game, led by four goals and an assist from Michael Jevic. Cunningham scored three times for the visitors and Don Finn recorded two assists. Ryan Young had a strong night on defense with five caused turnovers and seven groundballs.

John Petito (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Adrian Go (Fair Lawn, N.J.) each recorded an assist in the game for Mount Saint Vincent, while Frank Maddaloni (Bronx, N.Y.) and Germain Ngaba (Bronx, N.Y.) each picked up five groundballs.

Kalibat reached double figures in saves for the fifth straight game with his 18 stops on Wednesday. He stopped six shots in the opening quarter for the Dolphins and wrapped up the game with four groundballs and two caused turnovers. Michael Dorn earned the win for Montclair State after making six stops.

Overall in the game, Montclair State held the advantage in shots 65-23 and shots on goal 39-11. The Red Hawks had the better of groundballs at 47-26 and dominated face-offs 19-3. Brad Pietrucha won 10 of the 12 draws he took and Blasé Mantieno went a perfect 8 for 8.

Wednesday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent back to the .500 mark overall at 5-5 and to 0-3 against league competition. Next up for the Dolphins is a date with Kean on Saturday in their final regular season home game. Face-off at Tibbetts Brook Park is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
