Golden Eagles Fly by Privateers in Skyline Action

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 10, 2014) Maritime dropped its Skyline Conference contest against St. Joseph's of Long Island on Thursday night by the final score of 14-2. In defeat, the Privateers fall to 2-8 (0-5 Skyline) on the season, while the Golden Eagles improve to 11-3 (5-0 Skyline).

Maritime's two second-half goals came from the sticks of freshman Jane Quinn (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) and sophomore Caroline Reynolds (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego). Reynolds also led the Privateers with five groundballs, while Quinn scooped up a team-high three draw controls. Sophomore goalie Meghin Paczkowski (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) made six saves.

For St. Joseph's, sophomore Heather Ferchland scored three goals and added an assist, while junior Caitlynn Webber and sophomore Tori Gregson also tallied hat tricks. Junior Ela Igdeler scored twice for the Golden Eagles and three other players found the back of the net. In goal, freshman Courtney Wickline made three saves in the victory.

The Privateers return to action on Saturday for their final home game of the season against Skyline opponent Purchase College. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Reinhart Field. Prior to the opening draw, the Maritime women's lacrosse program will hold a special Senior Day ceremony for lone senior Theresa D'Amore (Blooming Grove, N.Y./Washingtonville).
