Queens Breezes by Brevard for 6-0 SAC Record

BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard (0-12, 0-6 SAC) lacrosse team hosted conference leader Queens (11-4, 6-0 SAC) during their last home game of the season at the Tornados Lacrosse Field. The Saturday, April 12, afternoon game resulted in a 21-3 loss for Brevard.

The Royals took an early lead off of the Tornados after winning six of the eight draw controls. Angela Canale answered back to a Queens goal after picking up the ball for a BC possession at the 21:20 mark. Canale passed it up to teammate Heather Morris for a give and go to the cage resulting in Canale's first career goal at the 21:00 minute mark of the first half. Queens continued to go on a six goal run to end the half at 11-1.

Queens University was led by Jena Ready after she contributed five goals along with teammate Megan Wagner with a contribution of four.

Brevard spread out the team's three goals amongst three individuals including Canale and teammates Jamila Brown and Julia Gasston.

Goalkeeper, Melissa Harris for BC, faced 52 total shots against the Royals and saved 20 while in the cage.

Brevard will travel for their final game of the season against Chowan University this Wednesday, April 16 at 4:00 pm in Murfreesboro, N.C.

BREVARD, N.C. Queens defeated Brevard 21-3 this afternoon to complete the regular season undefeated in South Atlantic Conference play at 6-0. The Tonados are winless this season sitting at 0-12 on the year and 0-6 in the SAC.

Attacker Jena Ready led the Royals with five goals, while Megan Wagner added four goals. Brittany Larranaga and Abigail Paulus totaled two goals, while Nicole Forgione also notched two points with a goal and an assist.

Once again the Royals were able to get off to a strong start early, scoring five unanswered goals in the first nine minutes of play. Brevard's Angela Canale would find the back of the net for the Tornados with 21 minutes on the clock, but her goal would be the only one scored for the home team in the first half as Ready got hot following her score with three consecutive goals. Queens would then score three more to end the half with an 11-1 lead.

Queens found three quick goals in the first four minutes of the second half before Jamila Brown scored an unassisted goal for Brevard. A 6-1 run for the Royals over the next 11 minutes of action would help Queens solidify their regular season title.

The Royals outshot Brevard 52-8 and dominated draw controls 17-9. Danielle Horoschak earned the win in goal after getting four saves in the first half.

The 2014 Food Lion SAC Championships will take place April 17-19 at the Queens Sports Complex.
