Cyclones Roll by Cedar Crest to Third Straight CSAC Win

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Centenary scored a season-high 21 goals and cruised to a 21-12 CSAC victory over Cedar Crest on Saturday afternoon.

The Cyclones put themselves in position to earn the sixth and final bid to the CSAC Tournament with the victory. Centenary currently sits in sixth place and can clinch a spot in the tournament with a win at Neumann on Wednesday (7:00 pm).

Sophomore Devin Sutko (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) led the Cyclones' offensive attack with seven goals and two assists. Classmate Carlie Schmitt (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) also scored seven times, while freshman Abby Voelkner (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) added four goals and four assists.

Cedar Crest scored the game's opening goal, but Centenary answered with five consecutive tallies, including three from Schmitt.

Sophomore Kristen Rabenstein (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) started another string of five-straight goals for the Cyclones at the 16:53 mark. Schmitt capped off the surge with her fourth goal of the half.

Sutko netted back-to-back goals to bring the score to 12-3, but the Falcons narrowed the gap to seven with a pair of tallies just before the half.

Cedar Crest got a close as six on three occasions during the final 30 minutes, but Centenary had an answer each time. Sutko fired home a man-up goal with 7:22 to play, making the score 17-10, and then scored off a feed from Voelkner 26 seconds later to seal the win.

Centenary held a slight 34-32 edge in shots and collected 42 ground balls, led by seven from junior Cheyene Reynolds (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack). Sophomore goalie Andrea Wisniewski (Lambertville, N.J./South Hunterdon) stopped 10 shots, while a pair of Falcon net minders combined for seven saves.
