Chadderdon Leads No. 2 Le Moyne Past Franklin Pierce

Rindge, N.H. - Senior midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) registered seven points to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne lacrosse team to a 15-6 victory at Franklin Pierce on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Sodexo Field.

The Dolphins scored the game's first four goals over the opening 15:19. Junior attackman Kevin Kelly (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) started the scoring with an extra-man goal 1:33 into the game after taking a feed from Chadderdon. Just over one minute later, Kelly finished off a pass from sophomore attackman Mike Jenkins (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa).

Junior midfielder Joe Corapi (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) gave the Dolphins a 3-0 lead with 6:30 left after receiving a pass from Chadderdon. Just 19 seconds into the second quarter, senior midfielder Kam Bumpus (Marshfield, Mass./Needham/Bridgton Academy) put his team up by four with his 12th goal of the year.

After being held scoreless for the first 19:02, Franklin Pierce scored twice in a span of 2:20 to cut its deficit in half. Kevin Dargin got the Ravens on the scoreboard at the 10:58 mark, while Brenden Caldeira scored with 8:38 to go off a pass from Eddie Noonan.

Le Moyne blew the game open with seven straight goals over a span of 12:40. Senior midfielder Tim Beach (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) started the run with an unassisted goal with 3:31 left in the half for his first marker of the season, while Kelly finished off a pass from Chadderdon with five seconds remaining in the stanza.

After feeding Kelly for a goal at the 13:19 mark of the third quarter, Bumpus netted an unassisted goal 15 seconds later. Chadderdon then had a hand in three straight goals. He assisted on an extra-man goal by senior attackman Chris Button (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) with 11:10 left, scored off a pass from Jenkins with 10:44 remaining and then tallied an unassisted goal at the 5:51 mark.

Noonan ended Le Moyne's run with 4:21 left after taking a pass from Cody MacLellan.

The Dolphins tallied the next four goals to take a game-best 12-goal lead. After Beach found the back of the net with 3:07 left in the third, freshman attackman Alex O'Brien (Hanson, Mass./Boston College High) posted an unassisted goal with 1:06 remaining. Button opened scoring in the fourth quarter by finishing off a pass from O'Brien with 12:11 left. Chadderdon picked up his third goal of the afternoon with 8:51 left to complete Le Moyne's scoring.

Franklin Pierce scored three times over the final 5:42 to cut its final deficit to nine. Dargin started the spurt with his 23rd goal of the season after receiving a pass from Erik Kelly. He then tallied a man-up goal 42 seconds later off a pass from Noonan, who then ended the game's scoring with an unassisted goal with 1:19 left.

Junior goalkeeper Pat Brothers (Burlington, Mass./Malden Catholic) registered eight saves, including six in the first quarter, over the first three quarters to earn his fifth victory of the season. Don Denman made 12 saves in the loss for the Ravens.

Le Moyne (10-1, 7-1 NE-10) returns to action on Wednesday at The College of Saint Rose at 7:00 p.m. The game is the 20th in the year-long "Upstate Challenge" between the two institutions. With the "Upstate Challenge" is currently tied at six points apiece, Le Moyne will retain the trophy with a victory.
