Pride Score 10 Straight to Best Warriors on Senior Day

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. Senior Maureen Heagy (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) became the 15th player in school history to reach 100 career points as she led Lycoming with four goals on Senior Day, but Widener scored 10 straight goals to post a 17-10 Commonwealth Conference win on Saturday, April 12.

Heagy reached the milestone with her second of four scores in the game, which gave the Warriors (5-9 overall, 1-4 Commonwealth) a 3-1 lead with 26:18 left in the first half. The Warriors alternated goals with the Pride (3-9 overall, 3-2 Commonwealth) from there until the Warriors scored a pair in a row, with the second coming on a score by junior Casey Maguire (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) to give the Warriors an 8-5 lead with 8:41 left in the first half.

The Pride responded, though, with five goals to end the half and added five more in the first 10 minutes of the second half to take a 15-8 lead before the Warriors could get back on the scoreboard. Six goals was as close as the Warriors could get the rest of the way.

Sophomore Savannah Fox (Port Deposit, Md./Perryville) scored three goals and Maguire added two goals and an assist. Senior Amber Graybill (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) added a goal and assist. Junior Kari Rybak (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) posted five ground balls along with sophomore Leanne Shaw (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford).

Widener was led by five goals, two assists and three caused turnovers from Pinky Schneider and four goals and an assist from both Mackenzie Lindquist and Megan Granata. Amy Albano also added three goals. Lindquist added 13 draw controls.

Freshman Nicole Gerling (Millstone Township, N.J./Allentown) (5-9) made 13 saves for the Warriors. Megan Dunn (3-9) stopped five shots in the win for the Pride.

The Warriors get back on the field on Thursday, April 17, when they head to Albright for a 4:30 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game.
