Emmanuel Ends Season for St. Andrews in Regionals

Columbia, SC- Fifth-seeded St. Andrews saw their season come to an end on Friday evening as they fell 20-13 to #4 seed Emmanuel (Ga.) in the first round of the NWLL South Region Championships.

Senior midfielder Catherine Lovallo (SR/Old Bridge, NJ) and senior attacker Jackie Jones (SR/Springfield, VA) each led with 4 goals in the loss while Jones also had 3 assists to lead the team with 7 points on the day. Jones finishes the season with 16 assists and 10 caused turnovers to lead the team while Lovallo led SAU in goals with 61 and points with 73 for the second consecutive year.

Lovallo also led in draw controls in the game with 4 while midfielder Anastasia Schultz (SO/Atlanta, GA) scored three goals to finish with 13 on the season. Junior midfielder Risa Wautel (JR/Baltimore, MD) added two goals in the loss as she finished her first year as a Lady Knight with 16 goals.

Emmanuel jumped out to a sizable 11-5 lead at halftime as they clamped down on defense and won draw controls to keep SAU's possessions down. The teams would then trade goals back and forth in the second half, but it was too much for the Knights to overcome as the Lady Lions extended their lead to 19-9. St. Andrews would rally in the final few minutes outscoring EC 4-1 to end up falling by 7.

Emmanuel advanced to the semifinal round vs. Reinhardt on Saturday where they eventually lost 18-10. SCAD beat Tennessee Wesleyan 14-7 in the other semifinal to advance to face Reinhardt in the finals on Saturday night where the Bees of SCAD-Savannah won their first South Region Title 19-10 over Reinhardt. SCAD finished the season at 13-0 and will be the number 1 seed at the National tournament when the brackets are released this week.

St. Andrews finishes their second season in the NWLL at 3-9 and will look to come back much stronger next season in head coach Lexi Kings' second season at the helm.
