No. 1 RIT Skewers Skidmore to Remain Unbeaten

ROCHESTER, NY The No. 1 RIT (15-0, 5-0 Liberty League) lacrosse team returned to action Saturday afternoon, defeating Skidmore (4-10, 1-4 Liberty League), 23-4 on Senior Day at Tiger Stadium.

The class of 2014 -- Tyler Brooks-Lambert (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes), Anthony DeLeo (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy), Joe Dupra (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon), Mac Keehfus (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt), Jack Krzyston (Bedford, NH/Bishop Guertin), Tyler Shaw (Tully, NY/Tully) and Taylor Wisman (Seattle, WA/Inglemoor) -- were honored before the start of the game.

RIT outshot Skidmore 55-24 and won the ground ball battle 49-20. The Tigers dominated at the face-off "X", winning 25 of 29. The Tigers were 13 of 14 on clearing attempts and went 4 of 3 on man-up chances

Casey Jackson (Victoria, BC/Claremont) led RIT with seven points on three goals and four assists. Allister Warren (Toronto, Ontario/Malvern Collegiate Institute) added six points on a goal and five assists, while Brooks-Lambert, Krzyston, Kyle Sterzin (Fairport, NY/Fairport), Kyle Aquin (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean De Brebeuf) and Beau Riley (Homer, NY/Homer) each scored a pair of goals.

Anthony DeLeo (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) improved to 5-0 on the season in net for RIT, making nine saves. Jarryd Lee (Melbourne, Australia/St. Leonards) played the final 12 minutes, making three saves. Brooks-Lambert went 18 of 19 on face-offs, grabbed 15 ground balls and scored two goals. JD Hall (Centennial, CO/Arapahoe) tallied a goal, dished out an assist and grabbed three ground balls.

Jackson opened the scoring, tallying his 40th goal of the season off a feed from Warren at 12:52.

The Thoroughbreds tied the score at 1-1 with 10:04 to play in the first quarter on Quinn Hawkins' 24th goal of the season.

RIT ended the quarter with six straight goals, taking a 7-1 lead on Brooks-Lambert's fourth goal of the season. Six different Tigers scored in the run.

Aquin kept the scoring run going with his 33rd goal early in the second quarter off a feed from Jackson giving RIT a 10-1 lead.

Freshman JD Hall (Centennial, CO/Arapahoe) made it 11-1 RIT with his eighth goal of the season at 6:56 of the second quarter. He scored off a feed from Braden Wallace (Oakville, Ontario/Abbey Park).

Seth Berger broke the run for Skidmore, tallying his ninth goal of the season with 1:47 to play in the first half on a man-up chance.

Hawkins made it 10-3 RIT on his 25th goal of the season with 10 seconds to play in the half.

The RIT offense exploded in the third quarter, tallying nine goals. Riley scored two of RIT's nine goals in the quarter as the Tigers took a commanding 19-3 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

The Tigers defense held the Thoroughbreds scoreless in the third quarter and allowed just one second-half goal.

Colby Brainard (Fredericksburg, VA/Brooke Point), Dave Shuster (Columbus, OH/St. Charles Prep), Sterzin and Reid Swier (Red Deer, Alberta/Rimbey) each scored in the fourth quarter to make it a 23-4 final.

Quinn Hawkins led Skidmore with three goals. Berger tallied the other goal, while Kevin Mulvey and Connor Hunter picked up assists. Matt Diaco took the loss in net for Skidmore, making seven saves.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, April 26 when the Tigers face St. Lawrence University at 1:00 p.m. in Canton, N.Y.
