No. 2 Le Moyne Rolls Past Southern New Hampshire

Syracuse, N.Y. Senior midfielder Kam Bumpus (Marshfield, Mass./Needham/Bridgton Academy) recorded a career-high five points to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne lacrosse team to a 21-2 victory over Southern New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play at Ted Grant Field.

Bumpus started the game's scoring with an unassisted goal at the 12:29 mark of the first quarter as the Dolphins scored the first 10 goals of the game. Following a Southern New Hampshire turnover caused by junior defenseman Kyle Moyer (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley), junior short-stick defensive midfielder Alec Westerhoff (Lagrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township/Bridgton Academy) scored in transition after taking a pass from senior short-stick defensive midfielder Cameron Fedish (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) with 11:29 left.

Just 45 seconds later, senior midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) netted his 18th goal of the season. After almost six minutes of scoreless action, junior midfielder Joe Corapi (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) registered his 20th goal of the year after taking a pass from Bumpus. Just over four minutes later, freshman midfielder Brian Rogers (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) tallied his fifth goal of the season. Senior attackman Kevin Kelly (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) ended the scoring in the first quarter by finishing off a pass from senior attackman Chris Button (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) in a flag-down situation with 11 seconds left.

The Dolphins, who clinched the second seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships and will host a semifinal contest on May 3, scored the only four goals of the second quarter to take a 10-0 lead into halftime. After Westerhoff caused a turnover and picked up the ground ball, Button netted an extra-man goal, his team-best eighth of the year, after receiving a pass from Kelly.

Off the ensuing faceoff, Bumpus scooped up the ball and raced up field before sending a pass to Kelly, who flicked the ball across the crease to sophomore attackman Mike Jenkins (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) for his 19th goal of the season. Following nine minutes of scoreless play, Kelly picked up his third straight assist by finding Button for his 87th career goal, the 10th-most in the program's history.

After Fedish caused a turnover and Westerhoff scooped up the ground ball with 2:07 left, he sent a pass to Kelly, who tossed the ball to Button, who fed Jenkins on the crease for his 20th tally of the year with 2:02 left in the half. The assist gave Button 100 points in his career, making him the 23rd Dolphin to reach that plateau.

Southern New Hampshire broke through with 12:35 remaining in the third quarter as Jeremy Buckley recorded an extra-man goal off a feed from Crosby Nicholson.

Bumpus won the ensuing faceoff and fed Jenkins on the crease for his third goal of the game to kick-start another 10-goal run. After Chadderdon netted an unassisted goal from the left side with 10:42 remaining to move past Matt Holdridge '05 and into 14th place on the program's career points chart with 129, Westerhoff found the back of the net eight seconds later off a pass from Bumpus, his career high-tying third assist of the contest.

Bumpus then added his 17th goal of the season 19 seconds later to force a Southern New Hampshire timeout. Chadderdon gave the Dolphins a 15-1 lead with an unassisted goal 10 seconds into a two-man advantage, while senior midfielder Mike DeBottis (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Onondaga C.C.) finished off the scoring in the third quarter with 2:37 left after taking a pass from freshman attackman Alex O'Brien (Hanson, Mass./Boston College High).
