Westfield State Starts Fast, Runs by Framingham State

WESTFIELD, Mass. Westfield State coasted to a 13-1 lacrosse victory over Framingham State on Wednesday night, April 23.

Westfield, which led at halftime, 11-1, improves to 3-1 in the MASCAC and 7-7 overall heading into Thursday's key conference game at Bridgewater State. Framingham falls to 1-5 and 2-13.

Junior Stephanie Lenhardt led the Owls in scoring with seven points (2 goals, 5 assists). Sophomore Blair Smith scored a game-high four goals and freshman Caroline Smart added three goals and one assist. Westfield scored on 13 of its 16 shot attempts.

Westfield first-year players Roni Orcutt and Meghan O'Brien both scored two goals. Senior Jen Carew contributed four ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers. Sophomore Mimi Khampaeng registered five saves.

Senior Marissa Canfield scored the Rams' lone goal.
