Ninth-Ranked Union Posts Win at Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Union closed its regular season with a 10-3 victory over Skidmore in Liberty League action from Wachenheim Field. The ninth-ranked Dutchmen have won 10 of 12 games this season, with the two setbacks being one-goal road losses to the nation's No. 1 and No. 2-ranked teams.

Union's defense allowed three goals -- it's lowest total against a Liberty Liberty League opponent this season -- and held the Thoroughbreds to just one second-half goal. Goalkeeper Stefan Basile made 10 saves before giving way to Devyn Jefferies in the game's final minutes.

Offensively, Nolan Stauffer scored in his eighth-straight game, striking twice, while Charlie Ross provided a pair of goals as well, including the game-winner. Rob Santangelo tallied his team-leading 17th goal of the season and recorded his 150th career point with a third-period assist.

Connor Hall won eight of 13 faceoffs, and along with Kyle McQuiggan, gathered a team-best six ground balls.

Union (12-2, 5-1) has earned the No. 2 seeding for the Liberty League Tournament, and will host No. 3 seed Rensselaer next Friday (May 2) at 4:00 p.m. at Frank Bailey Field. Union defeated RPI, 12-11, in double overtime three weeks ago.
