Molloy's Four Goals Propel Brown Over Dartmouth

Providence, R.I. - Brown closed its 2014 lacrosse season with a 12-8 win over Dartmouth, earning its second straight winning season with an 8-6 record. Freshman Dylan Molloy (Setauket, NY) paced the Bears (8-6, 2-4 Ivy) with four goals, while Brendan Rotanz scored two goals for the Big Green (1-10, 0-6 Ivy).

Eight Brown seniors, who were playing their final game, were honored in pre-game ceremonies: Tommy Capone (Watertown, NY), Stephen Chmil (Garden City, NY), Sam Hurster (St. Louis, MO), Daniel Mellynchuk West Sayville, NY), Philip Pierce (Greenwich, CT), Will Round (Mtl Lebanon, PA), Peter Vivonetto (Rocky Point, NY) and Brady Williams (New York, NY).

Capone dominated the face-off x for the Bears, capturing 17 of 23 face-offs and picking up 12 ground balls. Sophomore Kylor Bellistri (Potomac, MD) and Hurster netted two goals each for the Bears.

Sophomore goalie Jack Kelly (West Islip, NY) made 14 saves in goal for Brown, allowing six goals, while Round earned the start and made five saves in goal for the Bears.

Brown waltzed out to a 4-0 first quarter lead on two goals by Molloy and one each by Bellistri and Capone, who scored his first collegiate goal off the face-off.

Four straight goals by the Big Green to open the second quarter tied the game, 4-4, before Bears' junior Tyler Landis (Coppell, TX) scored an open net goal with 2:43 left in the half to give Brown the lead for good, 5-4, at the half.

Goals by sophomores Bailey Tills (Denver, CO) and Matt Graham (Amityville, NY) to open the second half gave the Bears a 7-4 cushion with 6:36 remaining.

Jake Weile scored for the Big Green to pull within 8-6 at the end of three quarters.

The Bears broke the game open with four straight goals, two each by Molloy and Hurster, to break the game open and grab a commanding 12-6 advantage.
