No. 9 Duke Reaches NCAA Quarterfinals with Win over Irish

The Irish held a 21-20 edge in shots on the day and won the draw by a 12-8 margin. The Blue Devils controlled the ground ball game, picking up 22 to 18 by Notre Dame.

Sexton paced Notre Dame's attack, earning a hat trick, while Powell and Custis had two tallies apiece. A solid defensive performance by freshman Maura Schwitter and the Duke defense kept the Irish's leading scorer, Cortney Forunato, without a point for the contest.

Liz O'Sullivan posted five saves in goal for Notre Dame, which concluded the 2014 season with a final record of 10-9.
