Lees-McRae Signs Six to NLIs for the 2015 Lacrosse Season

BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Six student-athletes have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Lees-McRae and play women's lacrosse in the spring of 2015, announced head coach Ray Cameron Wednesday afternoon.

Joining the Bobcats in the fall will be Tiffany Hanes (Hitchcock, Texas), Sara Henderson (Huntersville, N.C.), Tiffany Laster (Jupiter, Fla.), Peyton LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.), Casey Reagan (Midlothian, Va.) and Molly Simmet (Comstock Park, Mich.)

"The Lees-McRae women's lacrosse program is very excited to welcome the six representatives that will join the squad in the fall," praised Cameron. "While it is difficult to replace our seniors, especially all-conference captain Katelin Rooney we have a very talented group coming in."

"The five freshmen and one transfer are coming from as close as our own backyard in N.C. and as far away as Va., Fla., Mich. and Texas," said Cameron. "Recruiting from these diverse areas brings more well-rounded experience to our team. Also, it's opening up these areas to future prospects. In addition to leading their teams at their respective previous schools, these players coming in have played for some of the best club programs in the country."

Tiffany Hanes – Midfield/Attack – 5-6 – Hitchcock, Texas
Hanes previously played for the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist University while majoring in exercise science. She was a member of the Texas High School Girls Lacrosse All-Star Team in 2012 before being tabbed captain and most valuable player as a freshman at OBU. Hanes paced the team in scoring in 2013, including a seven-goal outburst against the University of Dallas on April 20.

Prior to OBU, Hanes shined at Dickinson High School while being a class historian and a member of the National Art Honor Society and graduated Cum Laude. She was a member her high school basketball squad.

Hanes is the daughter of Tracy and Linda Hanes and played under coach Ellen Walls while in high school.

"Tiffany is coming to LMC from Texas. Tiffany has the most collegiate experience of the group as a transfer from Oklahoma Baptist," praised Cameron. "She will bring much needed experience and maturity to our young team."

Sara Henderson – Midfield/Attack – 5-7 – Huntersville, N.C.
Henderson has been an integral part of the Queen City Stars, which was coached by Kristen Heimstead. She amassed 32 goals and 19 assists in her sophomore season at Lake Norman Charter while accumulating 42 groundballs. The Huntersville, N.C., native was a member of the Key Club, French Club and Powder Puff Lacrosse.

Henderson is the daughter of Scott and Lisa Henderson.

"Sara is a N.C. native and has improved each year I have seen her play for her club team," said Cameron. "Sara's success is in taking the draw, which has become so important in the women's game and will greatly add to our midfield group."

Tiffany Laster –Midfield/Attack – 5-1 – Jupiter, Fla.
Laster was a constant force at The Pine School while starting every game the last two seasons. She tied a school-record with 48 goals in 2013 while dishing out nine assists. She received All-Region Honorable Mention in 2013.
