Mercyhurst Announces Two Additions to Lacrosse Staff

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst lacrosse program has announced the hiring of two new assistant coaches for the 2014-2015 school year. Brigid Hurley and Jennifer Thomas will join the staff of head coach Cecil Pilson this fall.

Hurley played collegiately at St. Lawrence University, where she was a First Team All-Liberty League selection in 2013 and a Second Team All-Liberty League selection in 2012. The Penfield, New York, native scored 61 goals in 2013, finishing with 149 goals in her four-year career. Hurley was an IWLCA Second Team All-Empire Region selection as a senior. She was a Local Development Officer for the English Lacrosse Association in the United Kingdom last season. She will study organizational leadership at Mercyhurst.

Thomas played lacrosse at American International College for two seasons and finished her collegiate career at Springfield College. A native of Waterford, Connecticut, Thomas was a team captain at Springfield as a senior. While at Springfield she helped her team win back-to-back New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Championships in the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Thomas appeared in 29 matches at American International in her first two seasons and 31 matches in her final two seasons at Springfield. She was the assistant coach at Mount Holyoke College last season. She will major in organizational leadership at Mercyhurst.

Mercyhurst won 16 games and shared the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) regular season title for the first time 2010. The Lakers advanced to the PSAC Championship Game for the second time in three years. They return 11 of their top 12 scorers in 2015, along with their starting goalkeeper.
