Florida Tech Adds 11 Recruits to Inaugural Lacrosse Team

MELBOURNE, Fla. Florida Tech head coach Corinne Desrosiers announced the addition of 11 student-athletes on Tuesday morning. The Panthers begin their inaugural campaign in the spring of 2015, the same year the Sunshine State Conference will begin sponsoring women's lacrosse.

Joining the Panthers' squad are Katie Reid (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy), Jenni Juliano (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional), Allison Modica (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach), Tyler Heckman (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach), Erin Miller (Cumberland, R.I./Cumberland), Heather Molander (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley), Stephanie Stuart (Palm Coast, Fla./Matanzas), Julia Kantor (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Eastern Florida State), Courtney Hueston (Miami, Fla./Eastern Florida State), Heather Roache (Vero Beach, Fla./Saint Edward's), and Nicole Dietrich (Melbourne, Fla./Melbourne).

Reid spent the last two seasons as the junior varsity lacrosse coach for Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colo. The midfielder was a two-time all-conference honoree for Air Academy High School. She is currently a graduate student at Florida Tech.

Juliano lettered in four sports for Shore Regional High School in West Long Branch, N.J. A member of the lacrosse, tennis and swimming teams for four seasons, she was part of the team that won the 2010 Winter League Championship. Juliano intends to major in biology.

A three-year starter for the four-time Florida State Champion Vero Beach High School lacrosse program, Modica was named first team all-district, all-league and Scripps Treasure Coast All-Area First Team in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The five-foot, eight-inch attacker was named an All-American last season.

Also a member of the Vero Beach High School team, Heckman was named defensive player of the year on a team that won three consecutive state championships.

Miller was a four-year starter for Cumberland High School in Cumberland, R.I. A forensic psychology major, she is a volunteer at The Scott Center for Autism Treatment and member of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society.

Molander scored 103 career goals for Minisink Valley High School in Slate Hill, N.Y. A four-year starter, the midfielder was named the team's most valuable player her senior season.

A goalkeeper for Matanzas High School in Palm Coast, Fla., Stuart played in the 2013 Under Armour All-American Classic, representing the South. She went 4-0 in the 2013 President's Cup and was the 2012 IWLCA Capital Cup Champion. Stuart plans on majoring in aquaculture.

Kantor, a goalie on the FIT women's soccer program, was named to the All-SSC Second Team after posting a 11-5-1 record. Kantor led the Sunshine State Conference with 10 shutouts and 61 saves as a sophomore.

Hueston, a midfielder on the women's soccer program at FIT, started all 20 matches for the Panthers in 2013. She scored the game-winning goal against Valdosta State University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Hueston led the team with six assists. She enters her senior season at FIT and is majoring in business and sports marketing.

Roache split her high school career between Vero Beach High School and Saint Edward's High School. Roache led Saint Edward's in assists in 2013 and was part of two state championships at Vero Beach. She plans on majoring in behavior analysis.

Dietrich was part of the first-ever lacrosse program at Melbourne High School and is a member of the ROTC at Florida Tech.

The Panthers received NLIs from Haley Heggblod (St. Johns, Fla./Bartram Trail), Bridgette Soucy (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian), Sara Grenier (Kents Hill, Maine/Kents Hill School), Kelly Sullivan (Virginia Beach, Va./Bishop Sullivan Catholic), Mary Gormley (St. Johns, Fla./Creekside), Caroline Dunleavy (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and Allie Wood (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) in late 2013.
