#13-Ranked Dickinson Sprints by Springfield to Advance

(Carlisle, PA)- The #13-ranked Dickinson College women's lacrosse team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs with a 13-8 win at Springfield College on Wednesday afternoon. The Red Devils improve to a school-best 13-4 overall and will travel to #3-ranked Salisbury University on Saturday morning for an 11:30am match-up.

First-year Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) tallied a career and game-high seven goals, and added two assists while junior Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day) added four goals and a pair of assists to lead the attack. Lizzie Skolnik (Great Falls, VA/The Madeira School) and Tara Goss (Sandy Spring, MD/Sandy Spring Friends) each scored while Jena Boccetti (Hockessin, DE/St. Mark's) and Dana Bunting (Bishopsville, MA/Worcester Prep) recorded assists.

Junior Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline Academy) anchored a tremendous defensive effort with a game-high six caused-turnovers and six ground balls. Seniors Lisa Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) and Hilary Harding (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) were also outstanding in the win, recording a combined eight ground balls. Junior Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School) played a dominant role in the midfield with five ground balls and two assists.

Springfield struck first, taking a 2-0 lead before the Devils answered with three straight to pull in front with just under 21 minutes remaining in the half. The Pride scored back-to-back goals to take its final lead of 4-3 with 14:19 on the clock.

The Devils used a 7-1 run to take control at halftime with a 10-5 advantage. After the break, the offensive pace slowed as the teams traded three goals each for the final of 13-8. Springfield again opened the half with back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to 10-7 with just over 26 minutes remaining. The Devils maintained their composure, regaining possession quickly after turnovers and applying constant pressure throughout the game.

Jennings tallied the final three goals for Dickinson with the last coming off an assist from Williams. Jennings adds to her school records for goals and points by a first-year with 41 and 53, respectively

Junior goaltender Gabby Joffie (Jamaica, NY/Mercersburg Academy) made six stops in the Red Devil cage while Kristin Vaccaro and Nicole Flores combined for 14 saves in the net for Springfield. Ashley Martell scored two goals and had an assist to lead the Pride while Rachel Lampros added two goals.

The #13-ranked Red Devils will face host #3-Salisbury at 11:30, followed by #4-The College of New Jersey and #10-Washington & Lee University at 2:30 pm in the Sweet 16.
