Gardner-Webb Announces Inaugural Lacrosse Recruiting Class

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. -- The Gardner-Webb University women's lacrosse program is proud to announce its inaugural recruiting class, which includes 14 incoming freshmen and one transfer, announced head coach Jacquelyn Duggins on Monday.

"I am thrilled to welcome the first recruiting class for women's lacrosse at Gardner-Webb," said Duggins. "These young ladies embody the type of spirit and athleticism that are essential when launching a new program. They are strong women of character that have dedicated themselves to the pursuit of excellence both on and off the field."

Bryn Hubbard comes to Gardner-Webb from Old Mill High School in Millersville, Md. She has played lacrosse for 15 years, including a spell with Chesapeake Club Lacrosse. Hubbard intends to major in athletic training and enjoys reading, skiing, playing sports and adventuring.

Alex Fusco joins the Runnin' Bulldogs from Lassiter High School and Eagle Stix. A native of Marietta, Ga., Fusco has played lacrosse for seven years, and intends to major in speech pathology. She enjoys photography, being outdoors, and working with special needs children.

Lexi Kasofsky dons the Scarlet and Black following a four-year playing career at Gilbert High School in Gilbert, Ariz. The Gilbert native has played club for Desert Heat for the past two and a half years, and intends to major in exercise science. She enjoys running, boogie boarding, hiking, concerts, and working with children.

Amanda Steinmuller comes to Gardner-Webb from Mount Hebron High School in Baltimore, Maryland, where she was a four-year two-sport athlete in lacrosse and soccer. A native of Ellicott City, Maryland, Steinmuller has been playing lacrosse for 10 years, and enjoys going to the beach, being outdoors and hanging out with friends.

Monique Martin joins the Runnin' Bulldog family from Tyngsborough High School in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts where she played lacrosse, field hockey, basketball and soccer. The Tyngsborough native intends to major in athletic training and enjoys going to the beach and being outside.

Michelle Hedrick dons the Scarlet and Black following a four-year stint with Olympia High School in Orlando, Fla. The Orlando native played club for Lax Maniax, and has also played soccer and tennis. She intends to major in nursing, and enjoys going to the gym, going to the beach and traveling.

Lindsey Lippert comes to Gardner-Webb from Westhill High School in Onondaga, N.Y. A native of Syracuse, N.Y., Lippert has played lacrosse for seven years while also playing soccer. She intends to pursue a career as a nutritionist, and enjoys going on vacation, spending time with friends and family, and playing soccer and lacrosse.

Casey McDowell joins the Runnin' Bulldogs from Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she has been playing lacrosse since eighth grade, while also participating in soccer and basketball for much of her life. The Cincinnati native has been heavily involved in the National Honor Society and her high school's DECA Marketing Competition Program, competing in multiple state competitions and qualifying for the national DECA competition. McDowell intends to major in business with a minor in Spanish.

Alex Janus dons the Scarlet and Black following a three-year career at William Mason High School in Mason, Ohio. The Mason, Ohio native also participates in cheerleading, and played club lacrosse for Velocity Elite. She enjoys napping, eating, rollerblading and Young Life.
