Harrington Hired as Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Robert Morris

Moon Township, Pa. Aug. 27, 2014 Robert Morris University men's lacrosse head coach Andrew McMinn announced the hiring of Travis Harrington as an assistant coach this afternoon.

Harrington arrives from Seton Hill University, where he was an assistant coach the past two seasons. During his time there, he specialized with the attack and midfield positions and assisted with the goaltenders and face-off specialists. Harrington also served as the coordinator for the even and extra-man offensive units, as well as recruiting.

"I am extremely excited to have Travis join our staff," said McMinn. "I had an opportunity to coach against Travis as a player at Bryant and have a great deal of respect for how he carried himself and performed on the field. I could not be more impressed with Travis' character, as well as his drive to be very successful in this industry."

Seton Hill reached new heights as a program during Harrington's tenure. In 2013, the Griffins rode the top-ranked offense in NCAA Division II to a 12-4 overall record and their first NCAA Tournament appearance, where they advanced to the quarterfinals. The following season, Seton Hill went 10-6 and finished with a ranking of No. 13 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll.

Under Harrington's tutelage, Seton Hill produced five All-Americans, seven All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) II Team honorees, a Division II Midfielder of the Year, an ECAC II Goalkeeper of the Year, and an ECAC II Rookie of the Year.

"I would like to thank Coach McMinn and the entire athletic administration for this tremendous opportunity to represent Robert Morris University," said Harrington. "It is an honor to be a part of this impressive community and join the men's lacrosse program. I am eager to get started and look forward to the privilege of doing all that I can to continue developing and guiding the young men of Colonial lacrosse to be successful student-athletes."

Prior to joining the Seton Hill coaching staff, Harrington starred as an attackman for Bryant University from 2009 to 2012. He compiled 67 goals and 104 points in his four-year career with the Bulldogs and was selected to participate in the USILA/LaxWorld North-South Game after his senior campaign. Harrington also earned NEC Academic Honor Roll recognition in each of his four seasons at Bryant.

A native of Vestal, N.Y., Harrington graduated from Bryant in 2012 with his Bachelor's degree in accounting and later completed his Master's degree in Business Administration at Seton Hill in 2014. His brother Chase is a sophomore on the men's lacrosse team at Ithaca College.
