#7 Bowdoin Downs #11 Colby, 11-8, to Advance

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. Bowdoin has advanced to the NCAA Regional Final at Middlebury for the second straight year after an 11-8 win over NESCAC-foe Colby. The Polar Bears will take on Middlebury, a 19-6 winner over Union, in the regional final on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Middlebury defeated Bowdoin in last year's regional final, as well as the NESCAC Championship a week ago.

Colby led 2-1 early before Bowdoin went on a 3-0 run to take a 4-2 lead with 16:02 remaining in the first half. Jena Davis scored a pair of goals in the run that gave Bowdoin a lead they would not relinquish.

Colby came back and scored three of the next four, two by Kate Sheridan, to tie the game at five with 1:17 remaining in the half. Kate Donoghue of Bowdoin scored with six seconds remaining to give her team a 7-6 advantage at the intermission.

Colby tied the game early in the second half before Bowdoin went on a 5-0 run to gain an 11-6 advantage with 7:59 remaining. Five different players scored during the run for the Polar Bears, which was followed by a 2-0 run from the Mules to close the game and make it an 11-8 final.

Davis led Bowdoin with three goals, while Donoghue and Bobbi Dennison each scored a pair. Steph Collins-Finn made eight saves in goal to earn the win.

Sheridan paced Colby with two goals on the afternoon, while Catharine O'Brien made 11 saves in net.
