STONY BROOK, NY- The Golden Lions took charge, firing in 5 goals in the first half and allowing just one Mercyhurst tally. Senior Chris DuPignac (Ronkonkoma, NY) and sophomore Ryan Campbell (Brampton, Ontario) led the Golden Lions to their eventual 16-4 victory, netting three goals a piece and handing off 3 assists.

Campbell netted the lone first quarter goal just three minutes into the game. The score would remain 1-0 until the start of the second quarter when Dowling connected their first of four man up tallies with a shot from Timothy Witt (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) off the first DuPignac assist. Nick Cotter (Whitby, Canada) gave Dowling a four point cushion netting back to back solo tallies in less than two minutes and Campbell finished up the Golden Lion scoring in the first half with rocket past the goalie from a DuPignac feed. Andrew Schuster put the Lakers on the board with four and half minutes remaining in the half to trail by four (5-1) as they headed into the locker room.

Campbell would grab his last goal at the start of the third, capitalizing on another man up opportunity and Dylan Evans (Brampton, Ontario) netted two more for an 8-2 Golden Lion edge. Greg Stock's rounded out the Lakers' scoring in the third quarter with two up tallies, but Dowling fired in six consecutive goals to close out the game effortlessly for a 16-4 victory.

Evans and Cotter ended the day with three goals each as CJ Leary (Bay Shore, NY) fired in two with an assist. Witt and Frank Sommo (Kings Park, NY) each pitched in with a goal for the Golden Lions as sophomore goalie Nick Tracey (Farmingville, NY) stopped 11 Mercyhurst shots.
