Butler Announces Cancellation of 2007 Lacrosse Season

Feb. 2, 2007

Butler University will not play men's lacrosse this spring. The decision to cancel the 2007 schedule was reached by players at a team meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 31.

Several members of the 2006-07 Butler lacrosse team have transferred to other schools, and another group of Butler players has opted not to compete this spring in order to preserve their eligibility. Based on the reduced numbers and considering all other factors, the remaining team members decided not to go forward with the spring season. Butler was scheduled to begin a 12-game lacrosse slate at Maryland-Baltimore County on Feb. 17.

Butler announced on Jan. 26 that it was dropping its men's lacrosse and men's swimming programs, effective June 1.
