IRVING, Texas -- Molly Wagner scored five goals and added two assists as the Bates College women's lacrosse team opened the 2007 season with a 19-0 win at the University of Dallas on Thursday. The Bobcats (1-0) outshot the Crusaders (0-2) by a 36-14 margin.

Wagner (Longmeadow, Mass.), Bates' junior two-time All-NESCAC midfielder, recorded her career high in points in a game, with seven. Also scoring for Bates were junior Rachel Harmeling (North Reading, Mass.) with four goals and one assist; first-year Molly Radis (Portland, Maine) with three goals; sophomore Caroline Thomas (Barrington, R.I.) with two goals and two assists; sophomore Rachel Greenwood (Williamstown, Mass.) with a pair of goals and one assist; first-years Molly Dilworth (Yarmouth, Maine) and Krystina Zaykowski (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with a goal and an assist apiece; and first-year Avery Masters (Mill Valley, Calif.) with one goal apiece.

Bates' three goalkeepers, junior Katie Nickerson (Windham, N.H.), sophomore Abby Childs (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Katie Smarse (Lincoln, N.H.), shared the shutout with four, four and two saves, respectively. Dallas' Jennifer Kunhardt made 19 saves in the losing effort.

Bates won't play another game until March 11, with a non-league matchup at Union College.
