PHILADELPHIA (2/24/07) - LaSalle scored four unanswered goals within the final 14 minutes of the second half to defeat the Colgate women's lacrosse team, 11-10, on Saturday, Feb. 24, at McCarthy Stadium. The one-goal loss was the second in a row for the Raiders, who drop to 0-2 on the year.
Colgate was up 10-7 with just over five minutes elapsed in the second half, after junior Jessica Van der Meulen (Liverpool, N.Y.) netted her second goal of the game on a free-position shot. Sixty-one seconds later, Stephany McKee cut Colgate's lead to one on a goal that was set up by Tiffany Grossi. Grossi scored one of her own with 4:51 left to knot the score at 10-all. Borneman beat Raider sophomore goalkeeper Sara Drexler (Pottstown, Pa.) with 1:45 remaining in regulation to lift her Explorers to victory. Grossi finished with a game-high three goals along with an assist.
Colgate's offensive effort was led by junior Lindsay Pittard (Skaneateles, N.Y.), who contributed two goals and two assists. Sophomore Ashley Didio (Syracuse, N.Y.) added two goals and an assist, while senior Brianne Tierney (Princeton, N.J.) and Van der Meulen each added a pair of goals. Sophomore Molly Carroll (Swarthmore, Pa.) chipped in an assist to go with a team-high six groundballs and six draw controls.
