MARS HILL, N.C.-- The Limestone College men's lacrosse team edged Mars Hill, 14-11, in a non-conference match-up on Saturday night. The Saints record improves to 2-0 for the season, while the Lions fall to 0-2.

Limestone scored four goals in the first period compared to Mars Hill's three. Each team had three goals in the second and third quarters as the Saints entered the final period with a 10-9 advantage. Limestone scored four goals to the visitors' two in the final fifteen minutes for the 14-11 win.

Allen Vaughn (Skaneatdes, N.Y.) led the Saints with eight goals for the match, while Justin Haworth (Deerpark, N.Y.) had a game-high seven assists along with four goals and five ground balls. Colin Bell (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada) and Jake Rogalia (Liverpool, N.Y.) also had goals for Limestone. Michael Poerstel (Annapolis, Md.) also recorded an assist. Goalkeeper Marty Ward (Syracuse, N.Y.) had 13 saves for the contest while Teddy Prager (Seaford, N.Y.) scooped up four ground balls.

Brad Campbell led Mars Hill's attack with five goals for the match. The Lions edged the Saints on ground balls (46-32) and shots (38-35). Mars Hill won 20 of the game's 29 face-offs. Limestone will be back in action on Saturday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Saints Field when the team opens CVAC play against Queens.
