UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; February 28, 2007 - The No. 14 Penn State women's lacrosse team (2-0) continued to have Bucknell's number in its non-conference victory Wednesday night in Holuba Hall--the numbers 19 and 12, to be exact. Nineteen as in the number of goals scored by Penn State in its 19-6 steamrolling of the Bison. Twelve as in the number of consecutive wins Penn State has compiled versus Bucknell (0-2) in the teams' all-time series, against zero losses.

Another revealing number could be added to that list--13. As in Penn State employed a balanced attack in downing Bucknell, evident by the 13 different Nittany Lions that found net. For the second consecutive game, senior Lindsay Dutch (Ellicott City, Md.) led the team in goals scored, tallying three. Karen Long (Ellicott City, Md.), Jessi Lieb (Villanova, Pa.), Kim Kontson (Davidsonville, Md.), and Megan McGuire (Eldersburg, Md.) each netted two. Long added three assists to her stat line while Lieb and freshman Theresa Bucci (Hudson, Ohio) each contributed two.

Penn State thoroughly dominated the first half of play, fashioning an 11-1 lead while outshooting Bucknell 25-4. Sophomore Marisa Lozano (Pittsburgh, Pa.) started the offensive outpouring, scoring her third goal of the season three and a half minutes into the contest. After Bucknell's Bonnie Buechel evened the game at the 24:02 mark, Penn State would score the next ten goals before halftime.

Within that 10-goal run, seven different Nittany Lions would score, highlighted by Megan McGuire's first two goals of the season and freshman Maria Valderas' (Catonsville, Md.) first of her collegiate career.

Bucknell struck first in the second half, but Penn State responded with back-to-back goals by Lindsay Dutch and Jessi Lieb. After the Bison outscored the Lions 4-2 over the next 10 minutes, Penn State halted the run by tallying the final four goals of the game. Sophomore Amanda Longobucco (Sea Cliff, N.Y.) and freshman Erica Mihm (Annapolis, Md.) notched the first goals of their careers in that span.

Senior goalkeeper Cammie Jurkowsky (Annapolis, Md.) logged the first 30 minutes of the game, recording two saves while allowing just one goal. Freshman Stephanie Ellis (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) saw her first action in a Nittany Lion uniform, playing the entire second half in goal. Against a flurry of 15 Bucknell shots, Ellis registered seven saves and allowed five goals.

The Nittany Lions will conclude a three-game home stand on Sun., March 4 at 1 p.m. in Holuba Hall when they take on another Patriot League opponent, Colgate. Penn State possesses an unblemished 6-0-0 record versus the Raiders, including last year's 19-3 rout in Holuba Hall.
