No. 15 St. Mary's (Md.) Rolls Past Neumann, 27-1

St. Mary's City, MD – Junior captain Pat Oliphant (Chatham, NJ/Chatham) had a career-day for the St. Mary's (Md.) College men's lacrosse team as he led the 15th-ranked Seahawks to a 27-1 victory over Neumann College with career-highs of seven goals and eight points.

St. Mary's (2-1) shutout the Knights for the first three periods as the Seahawks held a 22-0 advantage after 45 minutes of play.

Oliphant had a hat trick in the first period as SMCM posted a 9-0 lead in the opening period. Junior middie Cyrus Albertson (Chevy Chase, MD/St. John's College) notched his first man-down goal of the season with 29 seconds left in the period.

It was 15-0 at halftime following another hat trick by Oliphant in the second period and junior middie Stu Wright (Bethesda, MD/Good Counsel) recorded the game's second man-down goal for the Seahawks just 25 seconds into the start of the second period.

Freshman midfielder Josh Hostetler (Clarksville, MD/River Hill) had two goals in the third 15-minute period as St. Mary's posted a 7-0 run.

SMCM rattled off five more in the final period before Neumann avoided the shutout following freshman midfielder Matt Toth's (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) unassisted goal with 55 seconds left in the game.

The Seahawks' sophomore middie Marc DiPasquale (Joppa, MD/Boys' Latin) won 13-of-17 face-offs and had three ground balls, while freshman Justin Glover (Catonsville, MD/Centennial) won 12-of-14 with a game-high seven loose ball pick-ups.

Albertson and senior attacker Kyle Patton (Walkersville, MD/Walkersville) each contributed two goals and two assists in the win.

Senior goalie Rich Barr (Salisbury, MD/Worcester Prep) improved to 2-1 as Barr made three stops in 30 minutes. Senior Matt Wiest (Portland, OR/Oregon Episcopal) made no save in 15:45, while freshman Ben Craft (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) gave the lone Knight goal and had one save in 14:15.

Neumann's freshman goalie Matthew Bateman (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) turned away 18 shots in the loss and had a team-high five ground balls.

The Seahawks will play again on March 10 when St. Mary's hosts No. 18 Villa Julie College in Capital Athletic Conference play at 1:00.
