Red Dragons Dominate Brewers

Oneonta State junior Tyler Dunne (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) scored five goals today in leading the Red Dragons to a lopsided 17-2 win against Vassar College in non-conference men's lacrosse action at All College Field.

Oneonta (2-0) scored in the first minute of play and continued to dominate Vassar (0-3) in the opening quarter where the Red Dragons put 10 goals on the scoreboard in the opening stanza.

The game's opening goal came at the 14:05 mark by junior Gordon Bopp (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst), who scored the extra-man goal with an assist from senior co-captain Neal Campbell (Merrick, NY/Mepham).

From that goal it was all Oneonta who registered nine more goals including four by Dunne. The last of Dunne's four goals in the quarter came with a man up for the Red Dragons.

Bopp finished the game with a pair of goals as did senior Mike Papp (Montrose, NY/Hendrick Hudson).

Campbell, classmate Mike Schanz (Endwell, NY/Maine Endwell) and sophomore John Carberry (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) each finished the contest with two assists.

Vassar senior co-captain Mike Littlefield (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park) led the Brewers attack with one goal and one assist.

Senior Brian Tricoles (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) made eight saves in three quarters to pick up his first win of 2007 in goal.

Oneonta will be back in action this Wednesday at Ithaca beginning at 4:00 p.m.
