BERKELEY - Senior Laura Cavallo scored four goals and two assists in California's 15-7 victory over MPSF opponent UC Davis on Sunday at Memorial Stadium. Cal improved to 3-0 (1-0 MPSF), while UC Davis dropped to 2-3 (0-2 MPSF). Megan O'Connor led the Aggies in scoring, with three goals and two assists.

The game was tight early. After Cavallo scored two of her goals in the first three minutes, Patrice Clark scored twice to tie the score at 2-2. But the Golden Bears scored the final eight goals of the half, including two from Cavallo and two from sophomore teammate Madeleine Dale, to take a 10-2 lead into the break.

Four different Bears - sophomore Ghillie Little, junior Danni Zuralow, junior Cristen Andrews and junior Brittany Aungier - scored goals in the first eight minutes of the second half to give Cal a 14-2 lead. Davis scored five of the game's last six goals, with Zuralow tallying for Cal, to make the final score 15-7.

The Bears outshot the Aggies, 36-20, overall, including 23-11 in the first half. Up next for Cal is Connecticut March 9 at 3:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.

BERKELEY, Calif. - Senior midfielder Megan O'Connor scored three second-half goals and had two assists but UC Davis was unable to overcome a 10-2 halftime deficit in a 15-7 loss to California in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's lacrosse action at Memorial Stadium Sunday. The Aggies fall to 2-3 overall, 0-2 in the MPSF. The Golden Bears remain undefeated at 3-0 and open conference play at 1-0.

Senior Laura Cavallo led all players with four goals and two assists for Cal. Teammates Brittany Aungier and Danni Zuralow each added two goals and two assists. For UC Davis, Patrice Clark scored two goals and Katie McGovern provided a goal and an assist.

Cavallo put Cal up quickly, scoring two goals within a span of 31 seconds to open the contest. The Aggies tied it up on back-to-back strikes by Clark in the fifth and ninth minutes. However, the Golden Bears unloaded for a run of 12 unanswered goals -- eight to finish the first half and four more during the first eight minutes after the break.

The Aggies held Cal to one goal during the final 22 minutes of play while scoring five of their own. O'Connor assisted McGovern for a score at the 39:54 mark, scored an eight-meter goal at 42:08, then added another goal in the 43rd minute during a 3-0 UC Davis run.

Junior goalkeeper Hilary Harkins finished with 14 saves in the Aggie crease. For Cal, Hilary Lynch stopped seven shots against five goals in her 45 minutes of play, then Morgan Dyson relieved her and recorded three more saves.

Overall, the Golden Bears outshot their guests by a 36-20 margin and held slight edges in ground balls (21-16), draw controls (13-11) and turnovers (22-24). O'Connor tallied three ground balls and won two draws for UC Davis. Junior Megan Miller came off the bench to record two ground balls, two draw controls and a steal in the midfield.

UC Davis begins a three-game homestand against Connecticut on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
