Saint Leo Team Falls 8-3 to Notre Dame de Namur
Saint Leo, Fla. (March 3, 2007) - The Saint Leo University lacrosse team (1-1) fell 8-3 to visiting Notre Dame de Namur University on Saturday night in the Lions' first home game of the 2007 season.
Benjamin Brigham (So., Scituate, Mass.), Chris Storrie (So., Syracuse, N.Y.) and Mark Dargon (So., Newton, Mass.) scored the Saint Leo goals but the Lions were unable to solve NDMU goalie Mike Ferrari for much of the night. Notre Dame de Namur held a slim shot advantage 31-30, as Saint Leo's David Erdman (Fr., Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) made 16 saves.
The visitors scored the opening goal of the game and stayed in front for the remainder of the contest. Notre Dame de Namur led 5-2 at half-time, scored the lone goal of the third quarter and iced the win with a 2-1 edge in the fourth.
Saint Leo will play its first-ever Deep South Conference game on Wednesday night when it hosts Catawba College at 7:00 p.m.
