Limestone Hangs on for 12-9 Win over Regis
GAFFNEY, S.C.— The No. 3 Limestone women's lacrosse team came away with a 12-9 win over Regis on Tuesday afternoon at Saints Field. Limestone improves to 6-0 while the Rangers fall to 2-1.
Limestone outscored the Rangers 4-2 in the first half and only had an 8-7 advantage in the second period for the win. Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.) had five goals in the win, while Kelly Lickert (Penn Yann, N.Y.) chipped in the four goals and three assists. Jen Gunlikson had four goals for Regis, while Amanda Ponzer had two.
Limestone had 39 shots to Regis' four. The Lady Saints also had the edge on ground balls (18-17) and draw controls (13-10). Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott City, Md.) had 10 saves for Limestone, while Brittany Forniok had 22 saves for Regis.
Limestone hosts CVAC-rival Pfeiffer on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Saints Field. The Lady Saints will also play Lock Haven in Gaffney on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
