Vermont Falls to St. Bonaventure in High Scoring Game
EUGENE, Ore. – Katelyn Fass scored seven goals and added one assist to lead St. Bonaventure past Vermont, 20-15, at the University of Oregon's Pape' Field on Saturday afternoon. The game was the highest scoring game at the Ducks' home field.
At the 13:08 mark of the first half a goal by Kaitlyn Fuller (Jordan, N.Y.) put the Catamounts out in front 7-5. St. Bonaventure answered with two goals by Fass to take a one goal lead with 9:07 remaining. Fuller answered again to knot the game up 8-8, but the Bonnies were able to take an 11-9 lead at the half.
St. Bonaventure scored the first two goals of the second half to open up a 13-9 lead, but the Catamounts answered with four consecutive goals by Emilie Clark (Calais, Vt.), Kristen Millar (Whitby, Ontario), Jennifer Maher (Waterbury Center, Vt.) and Fuller to tie the game up at 13 with 20:42 remaining in the game. But the Bonnies out scored Vermont 7-2 the rest of the way to earn the victory.
Fuller finished the game with a career-high five goals in the game for Vermont. Maher added three goals and Millar and Clark chipped in two goals each. Millar added a team-high two assists and nine draw controls.
Vermont falls to 1-3 on the season, while St. Bonaventure improves to 1-1 overall. The Catamounts return to action on Monday (March 12) when they face Oregon at 10:00 pm (EST). The Catamounts will play a total of four games in nine days on the West Coast.
