UCLA Tops Dominican, 8-6

Los Angeles, Calif. - Sophomore attackman-middie Brian Rossettis's four points weren't enough as Dominican University of California fell to host UCLA 8-6 in an NAIA vs. club lacrosse non-league game Saturday afternoon. With the win, UCLA improves to 5-5.

In a losing effort, Rossetti dished out three assists and netted a goal for Dominican (5-4). Sophomore attackman-middie Kevin Katerndahl has racked up 12 points in the past three days, scoring three times and adding an assist against the Bruins.

Freshman attackman-middie Lawrence Nardi scored once and had an assist, and sophomore attackman-middie Alex Choquette added a goal. Freshman goalie Daniel Duong had another strong game, tallying 17 saves.

UCLA took an early 3-1 lead but Dominican came back to grab a 4-3 lead before giving up a goal to leave things tied up 4-4 at halftime. UCLA led 7-5 at the end of the third quarter and each team scored once in the final 15 minutes for the 8-6 UCLA victory.

"We had a nice comeback in the first half but we just ran out of gas," commented Dominican head coach Ned Webster, referencing the fact that Dominican has played three road games in three days.
