Greensboro Falls to Virginia Wesleyan, 21-10
Greensboro, N.C. – Virginia Wesleyan (4-1) capitalized on 6 of 9 extra man opportunities en route to defeating Greensboro College, 21-10, on Saturday at Pride Field. Jordan Kenney led the Marlins with 6 goals.
Greensboro College (0-3) got off to a 3-0 lead vs. VWC. Yet the visiting Marlins then capitalized on GC penalties and scored the next 5 goals and led 5-3 after one period.
In the second period, freshman Crawford Prezisoso (3 goals, one assist) scored a 90-yard goal in an unattended VWC cage at the 12:15 mark. The tally cut the VWC lead to 6-4. Prezioso, however, was flagged for celebrating and the Marlins responded with another man up goal. The visitors had momentum and held a 9-5 halftime lead.
GC was outscored 6-3 in the third quarter and 7-2 in the final period. Andrew Carey scored 3 goals and Neal McKinney had 2 scores. Freshman Jordan Drumheller dished 2 assists for The Pride.
VWC had 56 shots to 36 for the home team. Pride goalie Mike Foderaro recorded 20 saves for GC. The Marlins won 24 of 33 draws. Brett Morris had 43 goals and 3 assists for Virginia Wesleyan.
