Sagehens Dominant in Win over Young Pacific Team

FOREST GROVE - Pomona-Pitzer gathered the second win on their four-game Northwest road trip Saturday, putting together a dominant performance in a 17-1 victory over a young Pacific squad in women's lacrosse action at Tom Reynolds Field.

The Sagehens (4-1) charged the cage early, scoring five goals in the first 10 minutes to set the pace. Pomona-Pitzer outshot the Boxers 35-3, held a 15-5 advantage in draw controls and a 17-15 edge in ground balls and managed to cause 12 turnovers while Pacific (0-2) coughed the ball up 22 times.

Lindsay Slote led the scoring for the Sagehens with five goals, four of those coming in the first half. Emily Ferrell added four goals and Erin Bradley notched three. Liz Mackell finished with four assists.

Mimi Takamune (Fr., Mililani, Hawaii) scored Pacific's lone goal with 15:27 remaining in the second half. Takamune was given an open direct shot at the goal following a Sagehens' foul, connecting just inside the eight-meter arc for the Boxers' lone tally.

Pomona-Pitzer goalkeeper Andrea Weiss made only one save in the victory. Valerie Nelson (So., Coeur D'Alene, Idaho) was tagged for the loss in goal, making four saves in 35 minutes, all in the first half.
