Oreskovich Tallies Six Points as Stevens Blanks MSV

HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 14, 2007) – Junior attack J.R. Oreskovich (San Diego, Calif.) scored four goals and added two assists as the ninth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team rolled to a 23-0 win over the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday at the De Baun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, N.J. The Ducks improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Skyline Conference as the out-shot the Dolphins 53-5 on the day.

Freshman attack Josh Holmes (North Kingstown, R.I.) totaled three goals and an assist in the win. Freshman attack Alex Couture (Vienna, Va.) added three goals and two assists. Senior attack Patrick Bailey (Manassas, Va.) finished with three points from two goals and an assist. For the Ducks, 15 different players scored goals in the game.

Senior defender Steven Suggs (Durham, N.C.) won 17 of 20 faceoffs and collected seven ground balls. Freshman midfielder Brett Robison (Great Falls, Va.) was 5-for-7 in faceoffs. He added six ground balls. Senior long-stick midfielder Shane Crossen (New Milford, Conn.) had five ground balls for the Ducks.

Senior midfielder Stephen Pascone (Selkirk, N.Y.) opened the scoring with an unassisted goal just one minute into the game. Bailey increased the lead to 2-0 just 47 seconds later off an assist from senior midfielder Mark Bielicky (Bridgewater, N.J.). Oreskovich picked up his first goal of the game shortly thereafter as Stevens grabbed a 3-0 lead in the opening two minutes. Bailey and Oreskovich also scored later in the first quarter as the Ducks went on top 5-0 at the end of the period. Stevens led 16-0 at halftime.

For the game, the Ducks had 48 ground balls to just 18 by the Dolphins (0-3, 0-2 Skyline). Stevens won 22 of 27 faceoffs. The Ducks were successful on all 16 of their clearing attempts. Mount Saint Vincent was 18-for-27 (66.7 percent) in clears.

Coming up on Saturday, Stevens will host Hamilton College at 2:30 p.m.
