Washington, D.C. – The Georgetown University women's lacrosse team had three student-athletes with four goals apiece as they held off No. 12/11 Johns Hopkins, 16-13 this afternoon at Multi-Sport Field. The Hoyas, who improve to 3-1 overall, used a five-goal run in the first half to open up a lead that they would never relinquish.

Senior Brittany Baschuk (Chevy Chase, Md./Stone Ridge) and sophomore Bunny O'Reilly (Blue Bell, Pa./Springside) each posted their first career four-goal game this afternoon, while senior Schuyler Sutton (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) tied a career high with four goals, the third time she has accomplished that feat. Senior Coco Stanwick (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) had a career-best five assists, exceeding her season total entering the game, also adding a goal and five draw controls.

Mary Key had four goals and four assists, Sarah Walsh had two goals and two assists and Kadie Stamper posted a hat trick in the losing effort for the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays and the Hoyas matched goals for the first eight minutes this afternoon for a 3-3 tie with 7:33 on the clock. Sarah Walsh began the scoring for Johns Hopkins at 1:16 on an assist from Mary Key. Junior Patty Piotrowicz (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored the first Hoya goal at 3:07, assisted by Stanwick.

The combination of Walsh and Key combined to give Hopkins a 2-1 lead at 5:29, but Georgetown responded 31 seconds later on an unassisted marker by O'Reilly. The scoring spurt continued with an unassisted goal from Mary Key just 50 seconds later to give the Blue Jays the lead back at 3-2.

Baschuk began the run of five unanswered goals at 7:33 with a goal from just in front of the goalie crease, after receiving a quick pass from Stanwick from the top of the eight-meter arc.

However, the game would remain at that score for nine minutes, before Stanwick found a streaking O'Reilly coming across the front of the net, where she tallied her second goal of the day at 16:33. Forty-one seconds later, Georgetown added to their lead, 5-3 on the second goal of the game by Piotrowicz off an assist from Baschuk.

Sutton continued the string of unanswered goals by the Hoyas at 18:47 with an unassisted tally, beating the Blue Jay keeper on a bounce at her feet. Baschuck collected her second goal of the half, on another great pass, this time from freshman Ashby Kaestner (Trappe, Md./Saint Peter and Paul), who posted her first career point with the Hoyas.

Johns Hopkins' Kadie Stamper ended a drought of 18:38 minutes to shorten the deficit to 7-4 with a free position goal at 25:28. The Hoyas would expand the lead back to four goals, 8-4, going into the half, as Stanwick found Baschuk in front of the net with 21.2 seconds left in the first stanza, to complete her first half hat trick.

The Blue Jays started quick in the second half with four goals in the first seven minutes, against one for the Hoyas, to cut the Georgetown advantage to 9-8. Alex Nolan began the half with an unassisted mark at 2:36, but was quickly answered by O'Reilly, who completed her first hat trick, with an unassisted tally of her own at 33:45. Johns Hopkins would post three straight in a span of one minute-38 seconds, beginning with a free position shot from Mary Key at 35:21. Kadie Stamper followed with her second unassisted goal of the day and the streak was capped off by a goal from Kirby Houck, assisted by Key.

Junior Zan Morley (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside) ended the Blue Jay comeback attempt with a nifty unassisted tally at 38:02 to expand the lead to 10-8. Morley's goal began a string of six-straight scores for Georgetown.
