Siena Pulls Away in 2nd Half to Down Binghamton

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- Siena sophomore Ryan Tierney recorded a career-high seven points on five goals and two assists to lead the host Saints past the Binghamton women's lacrosse team, 18-11, in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon. The Bearcats fall to 0-4 on the season while Siena improves to 1-3.

Binghamton erased an early two-goal deficit and mounted a 5-1 run to grab a 6-4 advantage midway through the first half. Siena, however, responded with a 14-2 run spanning both halves to secure its first victory of the season. The Saints held a 10-7 advantage after 30 minutes of action before pulling away by scoring eight of the next nine markers.

A season-high seven different Bearcats found the scoresheet led by senior Heather Grose's (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) three-goal, two-assist effort. BU received three points apiece from seniors Danielle Edwards (Horseheads, N.Y.) and Anna Riordan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and sophomore Julia Demuth (Jordan, N.Y.).

The Bearcats return to action on Friday when they host St. Francis in the 2007 home opener at Binghamton Alumni Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
