Tigers Stay Undefeated With 16-3 Victory Over Dallas
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado College women's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 with a 16-3 victory over the University of Dallas in a Division III women's lacrosse game at CC's Stewart Field on Wednesday afternoon.
The Tigers scored 11 consecutive goals after the Crusaders pulled to within 3-2 with three minutes remaining in the first half. Robin Harvey scored twice to ignite a four-goal burst in the final 2:07 of the first half to extend CC's lead to 7-2 at the break.
Mallory Newton scored two of her three goals early in the second half as part of a 7-0 Colorado College run. The Tigers built a 14-2 lead before Mary Sweeney scored UD's final goal with 9:10 left in the game.
Kristin Rider joined Harvey and Newton with three goals and an assist for the Tigers, who got goals from nine different players. Kerry O'Shaugnessy had a goal and four assists.
Rider was also dominant on draw controls with eight as CC built a 17-3 advantage.
Jess Van Doren made three saves during the first half and improved to 3-0 in goal. Valerie Cranmer stopped one Dallas shot during the second frame. Jennifer Kunhardt had 12 saves for the Crusaders, who were out-shot 31-9.
The Tigers will be back in action on Thursday afternoon when they play host to Swarthmore College at 2:00 p.m. at Stewart Field.
