No. 16 Penn Runs Past Delaware, 13-6

PHILADELPHIA - No. 16 Penn burst out for a 10-0 run in the middle of the game as they beat Delaware, 13-6, at Franklin Field Wednesday evening.

The Quakers (4-1) received goals from nine different players, including hat tricks by Chrissy Muller and Becca Edwards. Debbie Sloan scored twice for the Blue Hens (1-3).

Penn jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead when Muller and Rachel Manson scored with 10 seconds of each other five minutes into the game. Sloan scored her first to cut the lead in half, but then the floodgates opened for the Quakers, who went on a 10-0 run by scoring the final five goals of the first half and the first five of the second.

Edwards got all three of her goals in that span, starting and ending the run that lasted nearly 33 minutes of game time. Muller scored two of the 10 goals, while Barb Seaman, Allison Ambrozy, Kaitlyn Lombardo, Melissa Lehman and Bethany Warren also hit the back of the net.

Nicole Flego stopped the bleeding for Delaware before Ali DeLuca closed the scoring for Penn midway through the second half. The Blue Hens scored the game's final four goals over the last 12 minutes, but it was not enough to overcome the Penn lead.

Sarah Waxman made six saves while going the distance for Penn. Jessica Cerveny stopped nine for the Blue Hens.

Penn held wide advantages in shots, 29-15, and draw controls, 13-7. Ambrozy had another excellent game on draws, controlling five balls to bring her season total to 17.

The Quakers begin Ivy play on Saturday when they host No. 18 Yale at 1:00 p.m.
