Manhattanville Falls 16-3 at Eastern

SAINT DAVIDS, Pa. – Playing on the road for the third time in five days, and second in as many nights, the Valiants played a sluggish first half and were beaten soundly, 16-3 at Eastern Thursday evening, wrapping up their season-opening road trip with a 1-2 record.

Against 19th-ranked Rowan Wednesday night Manhattanville was clobbered 20-3, and Eastern, playing their first game of the season, came roaring out of the gates at Olson Field, opening a 10-0 lead at halftime. The Eagles out-shot the Valiants 20-3 over the opening 30 minutes and did not look back in the second half, leading 13-1 with over 18 minutes left.

Abbe Grimes (Hamden, Conn.) scored for the third straight game, tallying Manhattanville's final goal with 1:33 left. Kelly McMurray (Brewster, N.Y.) and Grayce Cunzio (Saugerties, N.Y.) recorded the other Valiant tallies. Freshman Mary Albano (Trumbull, Conn.) made seven saves but took the loss in goal, falling to 1-2.

Kate Hoy scored six goals and had two assists to lead the Eagles. Jenn Van Ness made 10 saves in goal to earn the win.

Manhattanville (1-2) finally hits the turf at GoValiants.com Field Saturday when they host Elms at 3:00 p.m. in the second half of a Valiant lacrosse doubleheader. The Manhattanville men's lacrosse team will face Clark (Mass.) at 1:00 p.m. in the first game of the day.
