LYNCHBURG, VA – Lynchburg's defense held Virginia Wesleyan College scoreless for the first 33:36 minutes of the game as the Hornets breezed past the Marlins 17-3 to open ODAC play on Saturday.

Tyler Tolson (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) found the back of the net five times, giving him 26 goals on the season and five goals or more in all five games. Johnny Black (Timonium, MD/St. Paul's) scored three times and Kyle McGuire (Burke, VA/Robinson) added two goals and assisted two teammates. Garrett Curran (Hull, MA/Tabor Academy) recorded 13 saves in net while allowing just three goals.

Jordan Kenney, Brett Morris, and Drew Miller each scored once for the Marlins. Tim Skartsiartis recorded 19 saves for VWC and allowed 17 goals. Lynchburg outshot VWC 54-30 and won the groundball battle 43-36 while the Marlins won 15 of the 24 faceoffs.

Lynchburg goes to 5-0 on the season and Virginia Wesleyan falls to 5-2 on the season. Lynchburg returns to the field on Wednesday to battle Trinity (CT.) College at 4:00 p.m.
