No. 20 Bowdoin Gets by Clarkson, 6-5 in Overtime
SYLVAN, Fla. - Rob Halliday scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team to a 6-5 win over Clarkson on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears (2-1) will return to action on Tuesday against St. Lawrence.
Alex Weaver led Bowdoin with two goals on Saturday, as the Polar Bears held a 3-0 lead after one period and took a 4-2 edge into intermission. Clarkson rallied to close the second half on a 3-1 run that sent the contest into the extra session.
On Bowdoin's first possession of overtime, Halliday deked a defender and fired a shot inside the far post for his first tally of the season, giving the Polar Bears the win. Mike Giordano, Kevin Mullins and Andrew Stager also scored for Bowdoin, who got 12 saves from Charlie Legg in the victory.
