Vixens on Short End of 13-11 Match with NC Wesleyan
SWEET BRIAR -- Sweet Briar lacrosse was back in action on campus Sunday, coming up on the short end of a 13-11 game with North Carolina Wesleyan. Following her six-goal performance against Kenyon last, junior Ellie Donahue (Richmond, VA/Trinity Episcopal) lead the Vixen offense with five goals in the game.
Her eight-meter shot with just over two minutes to play in the first half tied the game at 6-6. The Bishops answered, however, netting two goals before the end of the half to go into the break up 8-6.
The Vixens came out strong in the second half, trading goals with North Carolina Wesleyan throughout the period and preventing the Bishops from building a sizeable lead. But the offense was unable to close the gap as sophomore Meghan Kaminski's (Chagrin Falls, OH/Chagrin Falls) goal with two minutes remaining put Sweet Briar?s 11th and final goal on the board.
Sweet Briar travels to Ferrum College Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
