Stony Brook Cruises Past Siena, 18-7

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Stony Brook (6-1) rallied for eight unanswered goals to begin the contest leading to an 18-7 victory over the Saints this afternoon on John Fallon Field. Seawolves attacker Emily Jaissle led all scorers with four goals and two assists on the afternoon. Senior co-captain Christina Pampalone (East Northport, N.Y./Commack) and sophomore midfielder Lindsey Rosecrans (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) led Siena (1-4) with two goals apiece.

The Seawolves managed to record eight unanswered goals over the first 22 minutes of the contest to take a commanding advantage. Siena attempted to weather the storm as they retaliated with two goals before the half. With 4:38 on the clock, sophomore attacker Ryan Tierney (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) took a feed from Rosecrans and placed in the back of the net to put the Saints on the board. Rosecrans then registered the very next goal at the 3:25 mark to cut the Seawolves advantage to 8-2 at the half.

Stony Brook went on to run off four straight goals in the first four minutes of the second half to take a 12-2 advantage. The Saints responded with back-to-back goals by Rosecrans and Pampalone, but the Seawolves fire power proved to be too much for Siena as they cruised to an 18-7 victory.

Amy Schoonmaker (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and Lynn Harkins (Bellmore, N.Y./Holy Trinity) each notched a goal on the afternoon.

Junior goaltender Heather Ely (Elbridge, N.Y./Jordan Elbridge) earned her fourth loss in net on the season. Ely allowed 18 goals and made four saves in the non-conference match-up.

With the loss, Siena falls to 1-4 overall on the season. The Saints will look to rebound Thursday when they square off with Holy Cross. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. on Siena Field.
