Bryant Downs American International, 18-7
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior midfielder Caitlin Hansen (Spring Lake, NJ) found the back of the net for four goals while senior Shaun Leddy (Sea Girt, NJ) added three goals to help lead the Bryant University women's lacrosse team to an 18-7 win over visiting American International College.
Playing at home for the first time this season, Bryant (2-1, 1-0 Northeast-10) raced out to a quick 4-0 lead just three minutes into Wednesday's game as Leddy had two goals plus an assist on a goal by sophomore Delia Glover (Marston Mills, Mass.). Leading 13-4 at the half, the Bulldogs would open the second half with a goal from Hansen and Lindsey Cann (Danvers, Mass.) to make it a 15-4 Bryant lead.
But AIC (0-1, 0-1 NE-10), playing for the first time this year, would not go away just yet, scoring three straight during a six-minute span to trim the Bryant lead to 15-7. That would be as close as the visitors would get, however, as Hansen was there to close the door for Bryant, notching her fourth of the game with nine minutes left and the Bulldogs never looked back.
Bryant, which out-shot AIC 40 to 17 in the game, will host Bentley College next Tuesday evening under the lights at the Turf Field (7:00 p.m.).
